What is "Pollution" - & - What is Golden Age

                              WHAT IS "POLLUTION" -&- WHAT IS GOLDEN AGE

Science has made Man the master of this earth and all its resources. He shapes the earth as he wishes. He has built grand buildings and big factories which produce enormous quantities of goods and machines. Some people say that this is the golden age.

But it is a pity that it is not. There is something very wrong with this golden age. In his craze to gain victory over was not using them but destroying them. He was making the earth barren.

In the beginning the population was very small. People lived in caves. Then they learnt to make stone tools and huts of wood and mud. They also learnt to grow crops and tame wild animals. As their population increased their needs grew. So they acquired new techniques to satisfy their needs.

To-day grand buildings and factories have taken place of forests which have remained, and are insufficient to convert Carbon dioxide into Oxygen.

A large number of factories are making the waters of streams and rivers poisonous by throwing their wastes into them. Many fish living in these poisonous waters die. Those which survive become unfit for human use. When human beings eat these fish, they absorb poison which results in causing many fatal diseases.

When crops and fruit trees are irrigated with contaminated water poison gets into the food grains, vegetables and fruits. It reaches in human body and causes many diseases.

According to some experts the use of insecticides is poisoning the air, water and land. Efforts are being made to work out an effective policy to protect the environment. Pollution is a world wide problem which can be solved only by joint efforts.
