The other day I was reminded of how unperceptive I was as a child. Our lack of exposure to media and technology made us very naive compare to today's children as I discovered.

My four year old daughter was playing with her cousin who was having some difficulty with his train set. As the train refused to move on the track he asked why it had stopped. To this my daughter said, "the train can't go ahead because the halat are bad. they are burning buses and cars." I didn't know what  to say, I knew she had heard one of us adults discussing the situation or heard it on the news bulletin...it saddened me that he was exposed to such hate crime at such a young age; I expected that she would be immune and unaware of such events still she grows a little older.
